Applicants are invited to apply for funding from the Swedish Research Council for Sport Science for 2018. Sports science may include all areas of research and all applications must be clearly relevant to sport.
Two areas of special interest are research projects focusing on sporting excellence and research into sports for children and young people. The total sum to be distributed is approximately SEK 20 million.
Funding Categories
- Project funding: The Swedish Research Council for Sport Science can grant funds up to a maximum of 400,000 SEK per year. Project funding is for one year. Project funding is administered by the academic institution to which the applicant belongs. Applications are welcome for multi-disciplinary projects and for projects involving national and international collaboration.
- Funding for doctoral students: The principal supervisor of the doctoral student is the chief applicant for funds and is accountable for the student throughout the grant period. The grant is 300,000 SEK per year. The granting of salary is one year at a time and may be extended after accounting and renewal until the date of the dissertation or for a maximum of four years.
- Funding for post-doctoral researchers: The applicant shall have received a PhD degree at some time in the previous five years. The grant is 450,000 SEK per year. The granting of salary is one year at a time and may be extended after acounting and renewal for a maximum of four years.
- Funding for associations, collaboration and networking: Funding may be awarded to Swedish federations or associations working to create favourable conditions for collaboration between researchers, or networks between researchers and other parties involved in sport science research.
Eligibility Criteria
- Every application should have a chief applicant, who also acts as project leader and has scientific responsibility for the project. The chief applicant must be active in the project. The chief applicant should have a Swedish PhD or an equivalent overseas qualification, or possess a similar level of expertise, and have links to an academic institution in Sweden. The PhD degree is considered to have been awarded when all requirements, including all compulsory courses and oral examinations, have been met and the doctoral thesis has been approved.
- The term “children and young people” includes individuals up to 20 years of age.
