GWP-C in collaboration with the UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat has opened a call for concept notes for the implementation of short-term, small-scale Integrated Water Resources and Wastewater Management (IWWM) projects in the Caribbean.
GWP-C has a mandate to assist Caribbean countries in achieving long-term water security through the sustainable management of their water resources. This is achieved through the promotion and implementation of IWRM; a participatory approach to managing water resources that involves engaging all sectors of the economy and includes the planning and management of water supply, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
GWP-C is commitied to working with its partners to promote and strengthen interaction and cooperation at all levels and across different sectors to sustain IWRM in the Caribbean region. UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat has a mission is to promote regional co-operation for the protection and sustainable development of the marine environment of the Wider Caribbean Region (WCR). This is achieved through the development and implementation of programmes, projects and activites that support the implementation of country obligations to the Cartagena Convention and its three Protocols on Oil Spills, Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife (SPAW) and Land Based Sources of Marine Pollution (LBS).
Objective: To implement innovative decentralised, rural community-based interventions for wastewater management with a focus on nature-based solutions and use of wastewater as a resource.
Funding Information
- Each project for the implementation of innovative decentralised, rural community-based interventions for wastewater management must have a total cost of no more than US$20,000 (USD) with a duration no longer than six (6) months ending on or before February 29th, 2024.
Activities
- For the grant funding for short-term small-scale IWRM projects in the Caribbean, GWP-C and the UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat have established a simplified application and selection procedure.
- Interested organisations are encouraged to prepare and submit the grant form that accompanies this call for concept notes. The proposal must address the following topic: Implementation of innovative decentralised, rural community-based interventions for wastewater management with a focus on nature-based solutions and use of wastewater as a resource.
Location: Jamaica, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Guyana, Grenada, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Lucia, Belize, Suriname, St. Kitts and Nevis and Dominica.
Deliverables and Schedule
- Deliverables: The organisation will be required to develop a final report on all the deliverables outlined in the concept note inclusive of a financial statement and receipts.
- Schedule: The organisation will be required to develop an activity-based timeline for their proposal, all activities must be implemented within the timeframe provided in the concept note.
Criteria
- To access the grant funding for short-term small-scale IWWM projects in the Caribbean, applicants must be registered in one of the eligible countries listed above.
