UNDP is seeking proposals for its program entitled “Vulnerability Assessment of Armenia’s Agriculture Sector to Projected Climate Change”.
Activities
In the scope of professional services, the contractor will perform the following activities:
- Review recent climate change trends and scenarios developed for Armenia (to be provided by the project) and develop approaches to assess vulnerability of agriculture (horticulture) sector to climate change in agro-climatic zones.
- Identify at least five key crops important for the country from economic standpoint – cereals, fruits/berries/grapes, vegetables and fodder – for assessment of vulnerability to projected climate change.
Conduct vulnerability assessment of the key selected crops to projected climate change for the periods up to 2030, 2070 and 2100 and taking into consideration the current trends for irrigated and none-irrigated areas disaggregated by agro-climatic zones with focus on:
- changes in temperature and precipitations for the vegetation period;
- climate extremes (drought, frost, hail etc.);
- identification of the most vulnerable regions in Armenia with regard to horticulture sector development.
Eligibility Criteria
- The company should demonstrate its capability and thorough understanding of the work to be carried out, as outlined in Terms of Reference and present clear methodology for implementing assesment, as well as it should be able to mobilize resourses and the experts in order to sucessfully implement the works as per Terms of Reference.
- Expertise of the Company:
- At least 5 years of proven experience in providing consulting services related to irrigation/agriculture sector;
- Proven experience in development of analytical documents and/or successful completion of at least 2 agriculture sector analytical assignments within last 5 years.
- Experience in working with international organizations and Armenia’s governmental institutions.
