The Community Sector Banking is currently seeking applications for its Social Investment Grants Program to Support not-for-profit capacity building.
The 2019 theme casts the net much wider and encourages all organisations that are ‘building capacity’ to apply.
Funding available
A total grant pool of $350,000 is available in 2019. Applications can be made for grants of either $25,000 or $50,000.
Eligibility criteria
- Applicants must be a not-for-profit organisation
- Activities that the grant supports should be completed by the end of 2020
- The grant will only support projects that benefit communities in Australia
- All applications will be required to demonstrate operational and financial stability by providing appropriate information and documentation
- A full budget to be provided as part of the application
- Limited to NFP organisations with an annual turnover greater than $50k and no more than $5M
- Funding to be directed to organisational capacity building, to increase capacity to deliver services and support that addresses community needs
- Capacity to document and replicate initiatives elsewhere viewed favourably
- Funding sources/capacity to leverage resources from elsewhere beneficial
- Geographic spread/location is a consideration for the Grants Advisory Committee
- Recipients agree to attending a media launch event with in two months of grant receipt
Exclusions Grants will not be awarded for:
- Continuing operating costs (e.g. wages and electricity costs, although grants for building capacity within the organisation may be eligible)
- Capital works (e.g. renovations, fit-outs and vehicles are excluded if they are not at the core of the program’s delivery)
- Housing capital or construction
- Research development (although resources and toolkits may be eligible)
- Overseas projects
- Retrospective requests
- Scholarships
How will applications be assessed?
Applications will be assessed on the extent to which they:
- Build capacity within the organisation to deliver the service(s), project(s) or program(s) sustainably
- Create a sustainable positive impact for the target clients beyond the funded initiative
- Take an innovative approach to service delivery and client engagement
- Have the capacity to be documented and replicated elsewhere (scalable)
- Generate value* from the funding investment.
