The U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City Public Affairs Section (PAS) is pleased to announce the funding availability through the Public Diplomacy Grants program with an aim to expand media engagement, strengthening people-to-people ties between Vietnam and the United States, and building and strengthening local partners.
Objectives
- Inclusiveness and support issues related to: women, disabled persons, LGBT rights, ethnic minorities, or religious minorities.
- Fundamental Freedoms: freedom of expression, press, association, religion.
- Rule of Law
- Education: English teaching, improving teaching methods, curriculum development, modernizing education systems, science and technology.
- Overcoming historic challenges: improving relations with the Vietnamese diaspora community.
- Environment: Lower Mekong Initiative, climate change, or wildlife trafficking.
Funding Information: Grant budgets will vary between $1,000 and $50,000.
Proposal Priorities
Every application must:
- Clearly indicate the goal(s) and priority program objective(s) to which it is being submitted for consideration;
- Clearly specify the audiences to be reached (i.e., women, youth, others) and the geographic locations of program activities;
- Describe how elements of their program will have a multiplier effect and be sustainable beyond the life of the grant;
- Enumerate specific outcomes to be achieved by the end of the grant period;
- Include a traditional and/or social media plan for marketing or advertising program activities and outcomes;
- Demonstrate competency to manage all financial and oversight aspects of the project, including participant costs and transparent arrangements of sub-grant relationships with partner organizations, if applicable.
Eligibility Criteria
- Submissions are encouraged from U.S. and Vietnam registered not-for-profit, for-profit, civil society/non-governmental organizations, and educational institutions with relevant programming experience.
- This experience should be documented in the organization’s proposal.
- A copy of the organization’s registration should be provided with the proposal application.
- U. S.-based organizations should submit a copy of their IRS determination letter.
- Vietnamese-based organizations should submit a copy of their certificate of registration from the appropriate government organization.
- Previous federal award recipients who are not/were not in compliance with the terms of their financial and program reporting requirements are ineligible to apply.
