The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is currently seeking proposals from eligible entities for “Community Outreach for HIV and AIDS through Health Activists Supporting Health Facilities for UNDP as Principal Recipient of Global Fund HIV Grant in Angola”.
The Global Fund is a financing mechanism that provides funding to countries to support programs that prevent, treat and care for people with HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
As Principal Recipient (PR) of Global Fund HIV grant in Angola, UNDP seeks to engage national counterparts, called sub-recipients (SRs), to implement a part of grant activities. The engagement of national counterparts as SRs is crucial to the successful implementation of the grants, the strengthening of national capacities, the promotion of country ownership and the long-term sustainability of the programmes.
Outputs and Deliverables
- General Deliverables:
- Support of national efforts to address critical gaps in the national response in outreach to health activists in the area of HIV and AIDs
- Implementation of the programme activities
- Transparent management of funds
- Achievement of agreed outputs within the agreed budget and work plan.
- The outputs of activists must therefore include most of the following tasks:
- Prevention of mother to child transmission: testing among pregnant women and vulnerable groups, promotion and accompany of pregnant women to ante-natal clinics.
- Organize meetings and self-help groups among seropositive women.
- Treatment: Support to medical follow-up and adherence to ARV treatment of people living with HIV and AIDs.
- Co-infection: Following on HIV patients for testing on TB, IPT prevention treatment and supporting seropositive people testing positive cases for their initiation and adherence to ARV and TB treatment
Funding Information
The maximum amount of funding allotted activities is $758,000 USD.
Eligibility Criteria
The organizations that can conduct this assignment are the civil society, including non-governmental organizations, faith-based organizations, community-based organizations, community groups and academic institutions, as well as private consultancy firms.
