The Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CAAR) is seeking applications for its Grants program to support projects that enhance Australia’s economic, cultural and social relations with the Arab world.
The objectives of the Program are to promote people-to-people links and a contemporary and positive image of Australia and support for the Australian Government’s international policy goals.
CAAR – Program objectives
- Empower the peoples of Australia and the Arab world to develop a holistic and contemporary mutual understanding;
- Support positive and collaborative relationships between Australia’s Arab diaspora communities and the broader Australian community; and
- Support activities that encourage increased trade and investment between the two regions.
To achieve objectives, the Council concentrates its efforts on projects that align with one of Priority Sectors for 2017 in Sports and Fashion or projects that align with one of the following Flagship Programs:
- CAAR Speakers
- CAAR Visitors
- CAAR Exchanges
- Women in Leadership
Funding Information
- Between $250,000 and $400,000 in 2017-18 is available for this grant opportunity, subject to appropriation, starting in July 2017.
- Grant applications for a minimum of $10,000 will be considered.
- It is anticipated that most grants will be between $20,000 and $40,000 per year, depending on the scope of the grant activity and its complexity.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible applicants must:
- be one of the following entity types:
- an Australian entity with an Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN)
- a consortium with a lead organization
- a registered charity or not-for-profit organization
- an Australian local government body
- an Australian State/Territory government body
- a corporate Commonwealth entity
- an Australian statutory authority
- be an Australian or permanent resident of Australia
- or be a non-Australian citizen/resident individual or organization working in partnership with an Australian individual or organization, where this will promote Australian-Arab relations, noting proof of citizenship or residence may be required
- and be willing to provide or develop child protection guidelines for applicant’s project if it involves people under the age of 18 years.
