The Australian Government is seeking applications for its 2023 NAIDOC Local Grants Program to assist with the cost of activities being held during NAIDOC Week 2023 (2 – 9 July) that celebrate First Nations’ histories, cultures, achievements and continuing contributions to the country and society.
This grant opportunity provides funding to organisations to contribute to the costs of local and regional NAIDOC activities across Australia.
Activities should align with the 2023 National NAIDOC Week Theme For our Elders.
Funding Information
Total Amount Available (AUD): $1,600,000.00
Grant Activity Timeframe: 2023 NAIDOC Local Grants funded activities should align with the 2023 National NAIDOC Week Theme ‘For our Elders’ and should occur during the scheduled NAIDOC Week from 2 – 9 July 2023, or sometime during July 2023. Requests to run activities outside this timeframe will be considered on a case by case basis. An extension may be provided if there are extenuating circumstances.
Eligibility Criteria
Both Indigenous and non-Indigenous legal entities may apply for 2023 NAIDOC Local Grants funding. Where there are two similarly ranked proposals, preference may be given to:
- First Nations organisations (at least 51% Indigenous ownership and at least 51% Indigenous control)
- activities that will involve First Nations peoples and communities in the design and delivery of the activity
- activities in remote areas and areas where there is a high First Nations population, and include the local community.
