UN Women has announced a call for proposals to support a network of women peace builders who will take tangible action on peace and security issues and amplify messaging that promotes women’s participation and leadership in decision-making on peace and security issues.
The Cfp has the aim of engaging a CSO in awareness creation and capacity building on the WPS agenda and creating a platform for CSOs to contribute to advocacy towards development of NAP on WPS.
Areas
The Responsible Party (RP) under this Call for Proposals (CfPs) in collaboration with UN Women, will deliver on results in the below areas:
- Organise awareness promotion and capacity building workshops on WPS agenda in general and UNSCR 1325 in particular
- Establish a CSO forum that can advocate for development and implementation of NAP on WPS in Ethiopia
- Create a platform for women peacebuilders to discuss on issues of participation of women in peacebuilding and on UNSCR 1325
Award Information
- The budget range for this proposal should be 55,000 – 60,000 USD
Outcomes
The project will contribute to Outcome 2 of UN Women Strategic Note (2017-2021) which states:
- ‘Women lead, participate in and benefit equally from governance systems’ and
- ‘Women and girls contribute to and have greater influence in building sustainable peace and resilience, and benefit equally from the prevention of natural disasters and conflicts and from humanitarian action.’
In addition, the project will contribute to outcome on women leaders effectively participating in and influence decisions in political institutions at Federal and Regional levels.
Competencies
Technical/functional competencies required:
- Legally constituted organization with a valid registration in Ethiopia with 5 years’ experience.
- Experience working with grassroot community on issues of gender and peacebuilding, Women, Peace and Security.
- Experience addressing issues relevant to women and youth peace and security issues at institutional and local level, including Gender equality, dialogue, peacebuilding, conflict prevention, conflict resolution and reconciliation.
- Proven organizational experiences in building Strategic Partnerships that promote sustainability with women led organizations, CSOs, government agencies and other partners.
- Have experts in the area of service required.
- Previous working experience with United Nations is highly desirable.
Eligibility Criteria
- The mandatory requirements/pre-qualification criteria have been designed to assure that, to the degree possible in the initial phase of the CFP selection process process, only those proponents with sufficient experience, the financial strength and stability, the demonstrable technical knowledge, the evident capacity to satisfy UNWOMEN requirements and superior customer references for supplying the services envisioned in this CFP will qualify for further consideration.
