The City of Greater Geelong has launched the Climate Change Partnership Grants Program to achieve net zero community emissions and increase resilience to climate change impacts through a coordinated and collective response.
Objectives
- They aim to encourage a wide variety of grass roots community groups to apply. The objectives of these grants are to support community led projects and activities that support community efforts to:
- transition to a net zero emissions environment by 2035
- increase energy efficiency and renewable energy production
- switch to sustainable transport and cleaner fuels
- increase carbon storage
- increase awareness and understanding of climate change impacts
- increase collaboration
Funding Information
- There is total funding available of $130,000, with individual grants being offered of up to $50,000 per application. They expect to fund 4 to 6 applications per year at an average of $20,000 to $30,000 each.
What can you apply for?
- Your grant activity must take place within the City of Greater Geelong. The following is a list of ideas and examples that will be considered for funding. It is a guide only and the list should not be considered exhaustive:
- emissions reduction activities
- community awareness, education and training, mentoring, master classes, communication resources, workshops
- energy audits, energy efficiency upgrades, solar feasibility assessments, advice and information on energy efficient homes and businesses
- community owned renewable energy projects
- renewable energy bulk buy programs or power purchase agreements
- transition to electric homes and businesses and increased access to renewables
- climate safer places and energy efficiency upgrades to support community members most vulnerable to climate change impacts
Eligibility Criteria
- Not-for-profits – incorporated bodies, co-operatives or associations
- Registered charitable organisations
- Unincorporated bodies with an auspice
- Schools and learning institutions – only if in partnership with at least one other school and a not-for-profit organisation.
- For-profits – commercial entities, businesses only if in partnership with a not-for-profit organization
Ineligible
- Individual/Sole Traders (entity type with Australian Business Register)
- Individuals (without an ABN)
- Applicants that have received funding from this grant in the current financial year
- Applicants with outstanding acquittals for grant funding from the City – including auspices
- Applicants with outstanding debts or arrears to the City of Greater Geelong or in legal proceedings with the City
- An organisation involved in legal proceedings relating to winding up its operations, or experiencing insolvency or bankruptcy
