The U.S. Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia has announced this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for Slovenian civil society organizations.
The Embassy continues to offer grants for well-conceived and managed projects that strengthen the civil society sector and address societal concerns in U.S. priority areas. Eligible topics for projects are broadly defined to include democracy and human rights, security and foreign policy issues, economic and civic development, and support for regional stability in Southeastern Europe.
Priority Areas
- Demonstrate clear, sustainable, and innovative plans for obtaining matching funds and cost-sharing.
- Use digital or traditional media to reach broad audiences.
- Serve traditionally undeserved populations.
Themes
- For this grant period, additional consideration will be given to project proposals focusing on the following themes:
- Countering Corruption, Good Governance, Strengthening Rule of Law, and Transparency
- Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Economic Reform, Promotion of Trade, Women in STEAM
- International Security, Counter-terrorism, and Defense Issues
- Regional Cooperation and Trans-Atlantic cooperation
- Energy Security and Diversification
- Digitalization, Cyber-security and Artificial Intelligence
- Human Rights (to include tolerance, respect for diversity, and support for historically marginalized communities.)
- Youth Engagement, Volunteerism, and Active Citizenship
- Environmental Preservation and Sustainability
- Independent Media and Investigative Journalism
- They are particularly interested in supporting projects which include a U.S. component, and which promote strengthening of the bilateral relationship between the United States and Slovenia

Eligibility Criteria
Slovenian educational and research institutions, public entities, and not-for-profits/NGOs/social enterprises.
