The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking applications for its Cassava Innovation Challenge, a global competition 2016 with an aim to reduce food loss in various agricultural value chains.
The primary objective of the Challenge is to surface and implement solutions in product, technological, process and service innovations that can significantly enhance the shelf life of cassava in Nigeria.
The Rockefeller Foundation’s mission is to promote the well-being of humanity throughout the world and to achieve these goals, foundation work at the intersection of four focus areas mentioned below to address the root causes of emerging challenges and create systemic change.

Award Information
The Innovation Challenge will have a maximum grant award amount of up to US$1 million to be used to implement the solution.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Rockefeller Foundation Cassava Innovation Challenge is open to all organizations, whether for-profit or not-for-profit, including governmental and inter-governmental organizations.
- Collaborations between organizations are encouraged. In the case of such collaborations, the application should be made by a single organization (the ‘lead applicant’) who would then sub-contract part of the award to its collaborators
- Applicants can submit more than one entry. Each application should be for a unique solution. The degree of the similarities between applications will be evaluated at the sole discretion of the judges.
- By entering the Innovation Challenge, the entrant certifies that he / she does not infringe on any third party intellectual property rights and has permission from any individual(s) or organization(s) whose work appears in the submitted solution.
