The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is seeking proposals from qualified organizations for its “Mine Action for Preventing Violent Extremism in Central Mali” programme.
The objective of this programme is to strengthen resilience of two targeted Mopti communities toward preventing the escalation of violent extremism through interim stabilization mechanisms offered to vulnerable youth, returning refugees, internally displaced persons and other community members, while strengthening capacity of one Malian civil society organization and key community leaders in armed violence reduction and mine action activities.
Funding Information
A minimum of 2,800 Mopti community members receive training and/or are direct participants in awareness activities related to preventing violent extremism, such as: conflict mitigation; community violence reduction; explosive hazard risk education; responsible use of small arms and light weapons; and, psychosocial support.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grant applications shall only be accepted from qualified national and international not-for-profit organizations operational and registered in Mali.
- Only organizations with experience implementing successful community-based activities focusing on violence reduction, mine action, community resilience, or social cohesion in the Mopti region of Mali may apply.
- International organizations and/or Malian organizations not based in Mopti must submit proposals in partnership with a Malian organization who has experience, is based in the Mopti region, employs staff from the region and speaks the local languages of the intervention areas.
- Organizations must be legally registered in Mali and have existing management, financial, administrative and technical structures, including relevant accreditation.
- Recognizing heightened community sensitivities in the region, organizations employing staff from diverse tribal backgrounds, which accurately reflect the regional demographic, shall be considered particularly desirable.
