The mission is to support artists and save Earth’s biodiversity, through empowering artists and communities to create art, inspiring change and raising awareness on the critical issues that threaten wildlife and habitats today.
Funding Information
- You can apply for up to $500 USD in one calendar year.
- You can apply to produce work in pretty much any format, including; digital art, painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, ceramics, drawing, printmaking, documentary film, audioscapes, performance art, multidisciplinary works, animation & 3D printing.

Boyd N. Lyon Scholarship Program 2024

The Ocean Foundation and The Boyd Lyon Sea Turtle Fund are seeking applications for the Boyd N. Lyon Scholarship, for the year 2024.
Applications to be considered must address questions from a wide range of fields in sea turtle research and conservation including, but not limited to life history studies, oceanography, marine affairs, environmental sciences, public policy, community planning and natural resources.

Call for Proposals: Environmental Narratives and the Eremitic Turn

The Different Visions invites proposals for contributions to a special issue, “Environmental Narratives and the Eremitic Turn” which encompasses the locus of eremitic experience, which might be from any religious tradition or geographical location, whether wilderness, mountain, or desert, broadly conceived.
It also encompasses the bodies – individual and communal – who chose to inhabit that landscape (as a real or imagined place), and their lived experience. This special issue seeks to explore the diverse ways in which eremitic bodies, ascetic practice, and the landscape of the wilderness, were represented and imagined in visual culture.

The Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University brings together rising leaders from the United States and around the world who have demonstrated a commitment to finding solutions to challenges in their communities and countries. Scholars complete a fully-funded 9-month residency on campus at Columbia World Projects, deepening their knowledge and skills, and building new capacities and networks to accelerate their impact.
The purpose of the program is to help Obama Foundation Scholars take the connections and skills they acquire during the program and apply them for the benefit of their communities, countries, and regions. Obama Foundation Scholars are expected to remain engaged with the Obama Foundation and Columbia World Projects after the conclusion of the program.
Request for Proposals to fund Expert Teams Delivering Rapid Solutions to Critical Challenges

The Science for Nature and People Partnership (SNAPP) is calling for proposals to fund expert teams to deliver rapid solutions to the most critical challenges facing humans and the planet.
SNAPP, a first-of-its-kind scientific joint venture between The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), is a tool for developing sustainable solutions to global conservation challenges. Since inception, SNAPP, through its working groups, has provided science and user-friendly tools backed by hard data to identify and quantify nature’s role and value in preventing and solving some of the most complex challenges the world faces around food and water security, climate change, and energy.
Funding Information
- Each year, SNAPP provides up to US $1 million total across 4-6 approved working groups, led by academic, governmental agency, multilateral, or nonprofit institutions.
- SNAPP funds teams of 12-15 people from diverse organizations to gather for 3-4 collaborative sessions over the course of 12-24 months. Between sessions, members collaborate remotely; work with long-term implementation partners; identify emerging opportunities for tangible, lasting change; develop and test tools and products; and publish research.
Grants for Social Science Research on Solar Radiation Modification

The Degrees Initiative is offering grants to researchers in the Global South to study the social and political dimensions of solar radiation modification (SRM) geo engineering.
SRM is a controversial proposal for reducing some of the impacts of climate change by reflecting a small fraction of sunlight away from the Earth.
It is the first fund aimed entirely at researchers in developing countries and emerging economies to study SRM’s social and political dimensions. It supports work across social science disciplines, including anthropology, economics, ethics, geography, law, political science, psychology, risk science, and sociology.

The Journalismfund Europe is seeking applications for the Investigation Grants to support cross-border teams of professional journalists and/or news outlets to conduct investigations into environmental affairs related to continental Europe.
This is part of a larger programme: The Earth Investigations Programme supported by Arcadia.
Funding Information
- The total available amount per call to be distributed among all supported investigations will be around €400.000.
- The grant can cover working time and expenses such as logistics, travel, insurance, access to legal support, translations, access to technology and data sets, etc.
- Next to financial support, teams can also apply for an experienced mentor to provide assistance with either the focus of the investigation or the need for competences in a specific skill.

Story Grants to strengthen Environmental Coverage in Amazon

The Internews’ Earth Journalism Network, the Internews Americas team in alliance with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) are offering a second round of story grants to journalists and communicators to strengthen their capacities to produce high-quality, factual, and engaging public information on the impacts of transnational conservation crimes, their association with biodiversity loss and climate change, and to highlight viable community-led and policy-driven solutions to mitigate these impacts.
This opportunity is offered as part of the Together for Conservation project, which aims to strengthen the capacities of civil society actors and their regional networks to conserve biodiversity and prevent environmental crimes in the Amazon.
The project aims to facilitate safe and effective collaboration among journalists, independent media and communicators to support the production of content that amplifies Indigenous peoples’ and local communities’ issues. The goal is also to promote transparency and accountability to combat transnational conservation crimes in the Amazon basin.

They expect to award up to 40 grants of around USD 1,500 to 2,000 each. They expect applications requesting higher amounts of around US$2,500 to include cross-country collaboration and/or be produced in partnerships of two or more outlets or organizations.

Partners of the Americas (POA) and the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs at the U.S. Department of State (WHA/DOS) invite all higher education institutions (HEIs) from the United States and Colombia to create partnerships and submit proposals for consideration in the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Climate Initiative (100K Strong CLIMA).
This 100K Strong CLIMA competition is designed to stimulate and support innovative, inclusive partnerships between teams of HEIs that will create and implement climate-focused student and faculty exchange and training programs and climate action projects between the United States and Colombia.

- The intent of this 100K CLIMA competition is to award up to sixteen (16) grants – pending the results of the 100K proposal evaluation and final selection process. The grants will be distributed according to the following:
- Approximately eleven (11) grants up to $27,174 each for inclusive student/faculty exchange and training programs.

Climate-Resilient Coastal Communities Program – Canada

The Climate-Resilient Coastal Communities (CRCC) Program will provide funding to enable communities and sectors to work together at a regional scale to co-develop coordinated actions that increase climate resilience in coastal regions.
Regional-scale approaches provide multiple benefits for advancing adaptation action including: collaborative planning to address complex climate change risks (e.g. sea level rise, coastal erosion, extreme events); more efficient alignment of resources and short and long-term actions; enable innovative solutions; and reduce risk of maladaptation or shifting risks to others.
Natural Resources Canada’s Climate-Resilient Coastal Communities Program (2023 to 2028) will fund up to 25 pilot projects that accelerate adaptation at a regional scale through integrated, inclusive, and innovative actions. The projects will advance systems-based approaches and will involve governments, Indigenous rights–holders, communities and organizations, businesses, academia, and other stakeholders to address key climate change risks.

- Up to a total of $30 million in contribution funding may be awarded for pilot projects.
- Up to $25 million in contribution funding may be awarded through this open call for proposals competitive process.
- Due to the complexity of these projects, projects requesting less than $300,000 of NRCan funding, will not be considered through this call for proposals.

The Public Call for innovative solutions for green transition is opened within the project “EU for Green Agenda in Serbia”, which, with the technical and financial support of the European Union and a partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, is implemented by UNDP in cooperation with the Embassy of Sweden and the European Investment Bank (EIB), with additional funding from the governments of Sweden, Switzerland, and Serbia.

Call for Applications: SUSI for Global Student Leaders on Climate Change and Environment (Bangladesh)

Calling all applicants for SUSI! What is SUSI you may ask? It is the Study of U.S. Institutes (SUSI) — a four-week undergraduate academic residency and a one-week integrated study tour to a region of the United States.
This year’s program is Global Student Leaders on Climate Change and the Environment. Tentative dates for this program are June 22 to July 25, 2024.
On the SUSI program, Global Student Leaders participate in an intensive short-term academic program that provides undergraduate student leaders a deeper understanding of U.S. culture and leadership skills.
