The UNDP has recently launched remarkable initiatives that offer Flexible Small Grants to support purpose-driven projects in specific countries. These innovative programs aim to empower local communities and organizations in their efforts to address pressing socio-economic and environmental challenges.
NGOs must take advantage of the opportunity to participate in global projects through UNDP. With their presence in almost every country worldwide, UNDP provides a chance for NGOs to make a significant contribution to development efforts beyond their individual capacity. UNDP is committed to ending poverty, promoting democratic governance, and upholding the rule of law, all of which improve the lives of people worldwide.
UNDP’s benefits are extensive and can support NGOs in various ways, such as:

- access to expertise and technical support
- networking and partnerships
- capacity building
- advocacy and visibility, and learning and best practices

The OIC Accelerated Blue Economy Edition call for proposals is calling all qualified innovators seeking technical and management mentoring, communications and promotions support, and connections to capital for future upscaling in the OIC Incubator.
UNDP, in consultation with donor partners, established a new SDG14 Ocean Innovation Challenge (OIC) dedicated to spur action by identifying and financing a suite of pilot initiatives that demonstrate highly innovative approaches to ocean sustainability, cutting across most of the SDG14 targets and associated sustainability challenges.
The overall objective of the OIC is to accelerate progress on SDG14 by catalysing replicable and scalable innovations (technological, policy, economic, financial, etc.) that can be sustained and directly contribute to delivery of one or more SDG14 targets.

The CFCS is looking for innovative solutions that generate improvement and value, especially by introducing, new methods, ideas, or products. The CFCS views innovation in its broadest sense and recognizes innovations can come in many forms and variations. The proposed solutions need to be sustainable and have a potential for scale up. It should empower those who are left behind or are at risk of being left behind. Gender sensitivity should also be integral part of the project.

Applications are now open for the 2023 Asia Environmental Enforcement Awards to recognize and celebrate excellence in enforcement by government officials and institutions or teams combating transboundary crimes that affect the environment.
The Awards are given to individuals and/or government organizations/teams that demonstrate excellence and outstanding leadership in enforcement of national laws to combat transboundary crime. The thematic scope of the Awards covers any transboundary crime that affect the environment, including the illegal harvest, trade and transport of endangered wildlife, timber, fish, minerals as well as the illegal trade and disposal of waste and the illegal trade in ozone-depleting substances.

The GEF Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), provides financial and technical support to communities and CSOs to meet the overall objective of “global environmental benefits secured through community-based initiatives and actions”.
The GEF SGP has expanded to provide assistance to 132 countries. They believe that community-driven and civil society-led initiatives can generate environmental benefits, while supporting sustainable livelihoods, community resilience building and local empowerment. This is one of the most effective ways to address global environmental challenges.
YELL Seed Grants 2023 – Malaysia (MYR 25,000 and MYR 100,000)

The Youth Environment Living Labs (YELL), a joint programme between UNDP and UNICEF, supported by Amanah Lestari Alam (ALAM) is inviting interested entities to submit a concept proposals for YELL Seed Grants.
YELL wants to find new or better ways of instilling environmental stewardship and increasing young people’s contribution to the environment and climate agenda in Malaysia. The grant is expected to support the testing and piloting of new or unproven approaches and ideas, for engaging and inspiring young people into action.
YELL aims to localise climate narratives to address knowledge and resource gaps among local young people and strengthen the ecosystem of actors to support and hold the space for youth to engage as agents of change in environmental policy and action.

The Global Environment Facility (GEF), Small Grants Programme (SGP) implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Zambia is inviting eligible local communities, Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in largely vulnerable remote areas with women, the youth and persons with disabilities to submit innovative and relevant project ideas for initiatives that conserve and restore the environment while enhancing people’s livelihoods and wellbeing.
The unique approach to Community Action, Global Impact has proven to be effective in helping communities respond to environment and development challenges while improving their livelihoods and reducing poverty. The SGP acknowledges that it is at the community level where solutions and effective action can emerge. The principle of “thinking globally, acting locally” has put the essence of sustainable development into action under the SGP. By providing financial and technical support to community projects, the GEF-SGP has enhanced conservation and restoration of the environment while enhancing people’s well-being and livelihoods.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is offering grants to encourage micro, small and medium agricultural producer women entrepreneurs to implement renewable energy transition solutions and apply energy efficient technologies.
The project “Emergency support for agricultural producers in the context of the socio-economic, climate and energy crisis” aims to contribute to mitigating the socio-economic impact of the price increase caused by the decrease in crop production in Ukraine as a result of the military conflict, as well as the disruption supply chains in the region. These effects are particularly severe on vulnerable groups – the rural population, households with three or more children, female-headed households and women in rural areas in general.
