“World Day of Social Justice” is observed every year on 20th February, recognizing the need to promote social justice, removing artificial social barriers based on race, gender, or religion, and standing up for the rights of migrants, the disabled, and the elderly.
This year’s theme “Closing the Inequalities Gap to Achieve Social Justice“, will address the stark levels of inequality that exists within and between countries and in rural, urban and mountainous populations. It will also throw a sharp light onto the significant challenges that vulnerable people face in terms of labor force participation, equal pay and decent work opportunities.
Gender inequality still prevails and people are not benefitting equally from economic growth. Inequalities between and among countries are weakening social cohesion, preventing people from achieving their full potential and burdening economies.
Social development and Social justice are indispensable for the achievement and maintenance of peace and security within and among nations. They cannot be attained in the absence of respect for all human rights and fundamental freedoms.
It is time to reduce inequalities globally and achieve social justice for all. Therefore, we have compiled some open opportunities from international donor agencies to assist NGOs working for the promotion of social justice worldwide.
